This month’s meetup was hosted by Willis Towers Watson! This is the second time they are hosting the community this year, and we are very thankful for their support!

Lili Pattuinan, GDT Regional Software Development Leader, formally welcomed us again to Willis Towers Watson and to tonight’s meetup.

The weather tonight could have been better, but people manage to arrive at around 7:00 in the evening. We had half an hour where people mingled and had dinner before we formally started the event.

Yay!

Lots of first timers as well!

Welcome!

We used Open Space to facilitate the meetup. We had 3 rounds with 4 topic stations per round, timeboxed to 25 minutes each. The topics we discussed came from those at the meetup.

Alright!

Topics and schedule were:

Round 1: 7:50 PM — 8:15 PM

  • Breakout Area 1: Rewards/recognition in an Agile environment?
  • Breakout Area 2: What to talk about in the retrospective? Long term creative approaches for discussions.
  • Breakout Area 3: Early estimation in Agile.
  • Breakout Area 4: Common problems encountered by teams during refinement and how to overcome them.

Round 2: 8:20 PM — 8:45 PM

  • Breakout Area 1: The increasing public recognition of Agile practices.
  • Breakout Area 2: Unit test coverage SLAs and automation/regression coverage SLAs.
  • Breakout Area 3: Fairy tale of two Scrums.
  • Breakout Area 4: Effective Sprint Planning.

Round 3: 8:50 PM — 9:15 PM

  • Breakout Area 1: Can the Scrum Master be the Product Owner at the same time?
  • Breakout Area 2: Test-driven development in Agile.
  • Breakout Area 3: How small is an MVP?
  • Breakout Area 4: One at a time with Agile.

We started wrapping up at around 9:30 in the evening with a big circle sharing session, passing around a BIG post-it as a token. No raffles this time, but Willis Towers Watson did give out freebies at the start.

Freebies!

As always, we think we could have gone longer, but that will have to wait until the next meetup. Thank you to everyone to participated!

Thank you again to Willis Towers Watson for warmly welcoming us to their office and for supporting the community again this year! Special thanks to the following for making this meetup possible:

  • Lili Pattuinan, Carlo Sequitin, Stephen Ustare, and Peachy Pecson of the GDT Regional Leadership
  • Yuki Yukimteng and Pau Duque of the Scrum Masters group
  • BA Agaloos, Mary Javier, Raine Chua, and Bambi Valerio

Agile Philippines meetups happen every last Wednesday of a month. This is a community event, and is made possible by the people who go to the meetups, and the organizations who open their doors to allow us to meet as a community. Please do reach out to our Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup!

We have 2 more meetups left for 2016: October 26 for next month’s meetup, and December 7 for our November-December meetup. Next month’s meetup is still open, so if you are interested in hosting please do drop us a note!

See you next month!
