This month’s meetup was hosted by Carlson Wagonlit Travel! This is the second time CWT is hosting an Agile Philippines meetup, with the first one back in December 2015. Thank you for hosting again!

Kiko Basilio, Senior Director, Core Platform Development, formally welcomed us to CWT and to tonight’s meetup.

Kiko welcoming everyone to Carlson Wagonlit Travel and to tonight’s meetup

The meetup was PACKED! Lots of first timers too!

First timers! I couldn’t fit them in one shot!

The earliest arrived at around 6:30 in the evening. We had some time to go before we officially started, so time for some group photos:

Hello!

We used Open Space to facilitate the meetup. We had 3 rounds, timeboxed to 20 minutes each. There were 6 topic stations per round, and 5 minute gaps between rounds so everyone can figure out where to go next. The topics we discussed came from those at the meetup.

Topic board: DONE!

This time we went with a vertical board, so more topic slots!

Topics and schedules were:

Round 1: 7:50–8:10 PM

  • C: QA/documentation role in Agile
  • W: Is Scrum better than Kanban in Agile development?
  • T: How to agile when project management is handled by the product development team?
  • R: How do you do UX in Agile?
  • V: How frequent should we do releases?
  • L: Is there a limit in members in an Agile team?

Round 2: 8:15–8:35 PM

  • C: Describe a good/effective agile planning
  • W: How to scale the Product Owner role
  • T: Help. How do you define: Agile HR, Agile performance review, Agile employee code of conduct?
  • R: (How) can Agile be used in production support?
  • V: Business Analyst role in Agile development
  • L: Should regression testing be conducted in the pre-prod environment or in the QA environment?

Round 3: 8:40–9:00 PM

  • C: How do you apply Agile in accounting process?
  • W: How do you apply Agile in a non-IT setting (ie. government)?
  • T: What are you “Scrum but” practices? How to mitigate?
  • R: How do you evaluate members of a Scrum team (in an Agile setup)?
  • V: What do you think of sprint breaks (time gap between sprints)?
  • L: Test automation or delivery?

We started wrapping up at around 9:00 in the evening with our big circle sharing session.

Closing

As always, we think we could have gone longer, but that will have to wait until the next meetup. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Thank you again to Carlson Wagonlit Travel for warmly welcoming again to their office! Special thanks to Kiko Basilio and Haroun Amerel for making this meetup happen!

Thank you!

Agile Philippines meetups happen every last Wednesday of a month. This is a community event, and is made possible by the people who go to the meetups, and the organizations who open their doors to allow us to meet as a community.

Please do reach out to our Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup.

See you later this March at Voyager Innovations in Ortigas, Pasig City!
