This month’s meetup was hosted by Voyager Innovations, Inc.! This is the second straight year that Voyager has hosted us, and we thank them for their continued support!

Mitch Lagare, QE Head, formally welcomed us to Voyager and to tonight’s meetup.

Mitch welcoming everyone to Voyager Innovations, Inc., and to tonight’s meetup

We had some pizza while waiting for everyone else to arrive.

Hello!

We even had mini raffles at the start AND at the end of the meetup! Congratulations to all those who won!

Congratulations!

Lots of first timers again!

First timers!

We used Open Space to facilitate the meetup. We had 3 rounds, timeboxed to 20 minutes each. There were 4 topic stations per round, and 5 minute gaps between rounds so everyone can figure out where to go next. The topics we discussed came from those at the meetup. We also re-learned what consonants and vowels were!

Topic board: DONE!

Topics and schedule were:

Round 1: 7:50 PM–8:10 PM

  • V: Business analysis in Agile Software Development
  • Y: When tickets go incomplete, should the developer suggest a DROP?
  • G: Agile and methodology (Scrum, RAD, XP, etc.)
  • R: Doing Agile in a waterfall-inherent company process

Round 2: 8:15 PM–8:35 PM

  • V: No Scrum Master in the Scrum team
  • Y: Should developers accommodate tickets amidst development stage?
  • G: Agile for embedded software development
  • R: Should UI/UX designers be part of the Scrum team (how do you incorporate tasks in sprint)?

Round 3: 8:40 PM–9:00 PM

  • V: Separate sprint for testing (or tests should be done in the same sprint)?
  • Y: Why Agile fail?
  • G: Attracting the right people
  • R: How to stop a habit of doing multiple tasks at a time

We started wrapping up at around 9:00 in the evening with our big circle sharing session. This meetup, we first shared our names before what we felt or learned during the night.

Closing

As always, we think we could have gone longer, but that will have to wait until the next meetup. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Thank you again to Voyager Innovations, Inc. for warmly welcoming again to their office! Special thanks to Mitch Lagare, Richard Kabiling, Keila Rubaya, and Clint Cabunilas for making this meetup happen!

The team. Thank you!

Agile Philippines meetups happen every last Wednesday of a month. This is a community event, and is made possible by the people who go to the meetups, and the organizations who open their doors to allow us to meet as a community.

Please do reach out to our Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup.

See you next month at Nimbyx in Bonifacio Global City!
