This month’s meetup was hosted by ANZ! They are the first non-software organization to host the Agile Philippines meetup, and we are very excited and thankful for their support!

To the meetup!

JM Pabiton, Finance Delivery Centre Manila Lead, welcomed everyone to ANZ and to tonight’s meetup!

Lots of first timers again this meetup.

First timers!

Earlier, we socialized a bit as we waited for people to arrive.

Hello!

We had really good French sandwiches and pastries before starting.

Yum!

And we had a band to serenade everyone at this time.

A. Band.

A *LIVE* band!

I’m pretty sure this is a first in ANY meetup!

ANZ Music Circle rocking the meetup!

We used Open Space to facilitate the meetup. The Open Space principles were posted visibly in our space.

And ANZ improved on the Law of Two Feet and made it more inclusive!

Be mobile, be Agile!

We had up to 6 topics for each round, which spelled ANZ GSO. We had 3 rounds of 20 minutes each: M, N, L, with 5 minute gaps between rounds to figure out where to go next. The topics we discussed came from those who attendeed the meetup.

Topic board: DONE!

Topics and schedule were:

M Round: 7:50 PM–8:10 PM

  • A: Agile Tools: apps, templates, forms, etc.
  • N: How to deal with external dependencies in Scrum?
  • Z: How do you educate your team/organization with Agile if they are solid waterfall followers?
  • G: What are workable budget models for Scrum projects?
  • S —
  • O —

N Round: 8:15 PM–8:35 PM

  • A: How to effectively determine team velocity?
  • N: How do we progress with the ‘Agile’ mindset in highly regulated industries i.e. banks?

L Round: 8:40 PM–9:00 PM

  • G: How to measure if the organization is successful in transforming as an Agile organization?
  • S: How do you incorporate company-specific metrics on project success in Agile?
  • O —

We started wrapping up at around 9:00 in the evening with our big circle sharing session!

Closing!

We followed this up with a raffle, efficiently done by the host if I may add!

Umbrellas for the lucky ones, and mousepads for all!

Steve Harris, Managing Director, formally closed the meetup and gave his insights as someone participating for the first time.

As always, we think we could have gone longer, but that will have to wait until the next meetup. Thank you to everyone who participated, even if the weather could have been a lot better!

Thank you again to ANZ for warmly welcoming us to your office!

Special thanks to Steve Harris, Yann-Walter Dunlop, JM Pabiton, Lenny Stuart, Tim Cruz, Sharry Pacat, Mark Melton, Ken Hermosura, Dennis de Silva, Kathyrine Manansala, Lewelyn Javier, Matt Butiong, Jet Silva, and Joebal Uy for making the event a success!

Thank you!

And another round of applause for the ANZ Music Circle for an amazing show: Sharry Pacat, James Apilado, Fritz Paquiz, Francis Sandro, Varian Andino, Marko Caringal, Sheena Grace Dioneo, and Nino Saudi!

Agile Philippines meetups happen every last Wednesday of a month. This is a community event, and is only made possible by the people who go to the meetups, and the organizations who open their doors to allow us to meet as a community.

Please do reach out to our Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup.

See you next month at Willis Towers Watson in Bonifacio Global City!
