This February’s meetup was hosted by Infor! Infor first started hosting the community 5 years ago (2013–2014), and have continuously supported us — It’s good to be back!

Tonton Angustia, Software Development Director, formally welcomed us to Infor and to tonight’s meetup.

Great to see everyone!

Hello!

Tonight’s “light” dinner was langhap-sarap!

How Filipino can you get??

Another first for the community: photo booth!

Photo booth!

We used Open Space to facilitate the meetup. We had 5 topics (i-n-f-o-r) each round, and 3 rounds in total. Each round was 20 minutes long, with 5 minute gaps in between to figure out where to go next:

Topic board: DONE!

Topics and schedule were:

7:50 PM–8:10 PM:

  • i: How important is our certifications?
  • n: Is source code review valuable?
  • f: Role of BA in Scrum?
  • o: What is the best way to fit regression tests into a Scrum cycle?
  • r: Better refinement. What is just enough?

8:15 PM–8:35 PM:

  • i: How do you go about working with other Scrum teams?
  • n: Scrum Master Support: Sprint Reviews and Water Scrum Fall
  • f: Define “Complete”
  • o: Slicing into Stories (Vertical? Horizontal?)
  • r: Top Scrum Anti-Pattern needing to address

8:40 PM–9:00 PM:

  • i: Better user story estimation (techniques)
  • n: Failing in Agile: Lack of support from people (team)
  • f: Radical Candor during retrospective
  • o: Where should story points be based on?
  • r: How long will be the transitioning to Agile. For existing projects, how do you say the project is Agile ready?

We started wrapping up at 9:00 in the evening by giving out prizes and our big closing circle.

Big closing circle

As always, we think we could have gone longer, but that will have to wait until the next meetup!

Thank you again to Infor for warmly hosting us for February. Special thanks to Tonton Angustia, Lee Uy, Kelly Pagala, Infor Manila Photography Club, and everyone behind the scenes for making this meetup a success!

Thank you!

Agile Philippines meetups happen every last Wednesday (mostly) of a month. This is a community event, and is only made possible by the people who go to the meetups, and the organizations who open their doors to allow us to meet as a community.

Please do reach out to our Facebook group if your organization is interested in hosting a future meetup.

See you later this March at RareJob in Quezon City! We will be one week early, March 20 instead of 27!
